Loudly proclaims "Greed is good!"
Gets US where we are
Sold to us in the Eighties 
Consequences cascade on

    I think it was sold to us back in the 1600s in the protestant ethic/doctrine of the elect, “People can see if you’ve been chosen by God by how prosperous you are. God won’t let his foreordained people suffer!”

      Indeed. Back then it was no greed for thee, more greed for me message from inherited institutional wealth and power; just in time for the industrial revolution. I was thinking of mass media stepping up and pushing enhanced consumption for all thru neurolinguistic audio / video programming glorifying irrational exuberance and unreasonable expectations for all.
